During this year, my renewed interest with 1:144 scale models continued after the little Rafale. I went to “the pile” to figure out what to do next and due to my love for experimental aircraft, Revell‘s Suckoi S-37 was my pick. Compared to the Rafale, it has twice the size and half the detail! Don’t get me wrong, it is still a nice model, but the richness of the surface details simply is not there. The model was slightly improved with scratched gear doors (made from metal sheet) and brass tubing to replace the nose probe. It was painted using Vallejo‘s range of modelling paints and due to my inexperience with painting black aircraft, I failed to get the more weathered look I was aiming for. Even so, it was another enjoyable project, that further fueled my interest for 1:144 scale aviation models.
This looks really cool! Is the base printed paper or something else? If printed, where can I find a template for it?

Hi Cirstian:
The base is indeed printed paper. This particular one is from Noy’s Miniatures (sorry I could not find an URL of the manufacturer) and for 1:144 scale, I find them perfect. They are printed in .5 mm cardboard (or close to it) and I generally buy them online (in shops like Hannants (www.hannants.co.uk), AviationMegastore (www.aviationmegastore.com) or many other modelling shops).
