Arado Ar 234 C-4 (1:72 scale)

I like reconnaissance aircraft and I have been building a collection. This is one of such aircraft, an Arado Ar 234 C-4, built using an old 1:72 scale Dragon kit. As far as I could gather, only a couple of these aircraft were ever completed at the end of WWII and I completed it in the decoration suggested by the kit’s producer. The decals were quite old (this model was produced in 1992) and during their application I encountered several problems, with silvering showing in many of them. While solving this issues, it came to my mind that I do not know of many online tutorials that show ways of solving this problem. So this was the motivation to make the attached video.

A few years ago, I made a small workshop on scale model photography during Beja Modelshow 2017. It was a challenge proposed by our friend Simão Matos, one of the organizers of the exhibition.  When finishing the workshop, I was surprised with the amount of requests for a written sum up, as it was considered to be to much information to be absorbed in a couple of hours. In the mean time, many other modellers have shared their approach and thoughts regarding scale model photography (some are listed bellow), so I decided just to describe my workflow for making a photo to share online. So, finally, here it is! Continue reading “How I photograph scale models”

In this second installment, we will continue with this minute F-15 build, concentrating on the camouflage painting (including a little video, showing how to freehand airbrush the camouflage colors). The aircraft I choose to depict is portrayed in a profile published in the excellent “F-15I Ra’am in IAF service” book, from Isradecal (the profile is in page 31). So, lets start applying paint!

F-15I (1:144 SCALE) – PART 1

As a companion to the Israeli H. A. S. I am currently building, I decided to assemble an aircraft and I settled with the F-15I. I had a Revell’s F-15E kit in my pile of to be assembled kits and converting it to an F-15I looked like something I could achieve. This first post shows the small changes done to Revell’s F-15E, bringing it closer to the F-15I look.
